Re-Caning or Rushing

Re-Caning or Rushing

Hand-caning is a dying and highly skilled art, and is the talented process of weaving rush or cane by hand to produce a beautiful result. Historically, hand caning was used across a multitude of antique furniture styles, both English and French, and done properly is a strong, resilient and beautiful finish for a piece of furniture.

At Wallrocks, we work with some of the most skilled craftsman in Australia and the world to re-cane beautiful pieces of furniture that have over the centuries become brittle and lost their flexibility and broken. Re-caning is done by the individual hole and is woven by hand not machine and the result is fabulous.

Some damage to cane can be simply repaired, or alternatively for cane furniture that is torn and beyond repair, we have have this re-done. Please browse through examples of pieces of caned antique furniture from the Wallrocks collection that have been re-caned for our clientele.
